In the Illinois House, Jay Hoffman advocates for those issues he cares about most passionately; balancing the state budget, capital construction, education, economic development, workers’ rights, senior citizens, veterans and families. Jay was integral in passing the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan. This Plan provides much needed funds to roads, bridges, mass transit, higher education, local schools districts and various project throughout the Metro East. Jay works tirelessly in Springfield fighting for Illinois workers and economic growth in the Metro-East.
Jay is a leading voice for working families. He has well over a 90% voting record with the IL AFL-CIO. Jay is leading the fight to stop the attacks on worker’s rights. Jay serves as Assistant Majority Leader in the House and is assigned to numerous important committees such as; Cities & Villages, Judiciary-Civil, Labor & Commerce, Business & Innovation and Civil Procedures & Tort Liability. Jay was born in Highland, Illinois and received a BS of Finance from Illinois State University and a Juris Doctor from St. Louis University School of Law. Jay and his wife Laurie live in Swansea, Illinois and have two daughters and 4 grandchildren.
